Making Goals as SAHM : May

I made a post last month about making goals as a stay-at-home-mom for April. How this was an important component to keeping sane, and having goals that are achievable and to promotion of self-care in motherhood.

I have an update on my April goals, and what I would like to do in May. It seems like April came and dipped. I swear the days are going so much faster now that I’m an adult and have children, compare to when I was a child and had no care in the world about #goals.

My Birthday  – May 2016

MAY 2017

  • Work out 4x/week —> Work out 2x/week
I realize how much harder it is to find the motivation to work-out when you’re dealing with Postpartum Depression.
  • Write in my journal daily with affirmations, negatives to positives, memories, moments —> push yourself to write, even when it’s not much or specific.
  • Continue to say one good thing about each family member
..to remind them why you love them, why they are awesome, why they are important..
  • Give myself an hour each day – to write in peace —> Give myself 30 mins each day
I don’t always want to write. I don’t always feel like doing anything. But at least, this 30 minutes is open to anything.
  • Eat healthier meals and try not to skip meals
This has been very hard. Since there are days when I can’t find it in me to cook. A symptom of Postpartum Depression is, Lost Appetite.
  • SMOKE LESS
  • Take a break daily
  • Complete any wedding stuff on weekends
I have done nothing else about my upcoming wedding. Next on the list is to retrieve our marriage license.
  • Start going on walks – a.m.  (with kids) and p.m. (by yourself)
  • Spend time with each childseparately (again)
  • Encourage yourself to be more active by engaging in outdoor activities with the kids
  • CELEBRATE YOU each day this month
This month is my birthday month, I hope to do something I love each day –even if it’s something small.

I will complete as many of these goals throughout the month of May, and whatever I don’t complete I will continue to add to the next month’s goal.

Thank you for following my journey on achieving goals. I hope you take from this, and encourage yourself to continue to work on yourself and love yourself!

Please share with me any goals you’ve achieved that are easy and to the point. Maybe I can try it as well!

MM, out!

Maria used to be a Registered Early Childhood Educator, before having her second child. She is now a SAHM, that is not paid for wearing many other professional hats. She is, and not limited to some of these professional positions: Doctor, Nurse, Nanny, Chef, Maid, Uber Driver, and so on.. When she isn't mothering or tending to all her other unlicensed professional positions, she loves writing and dancing. She is a previous ballroom and latin competitor. Some of her favourite "stuff" are, turtles/turtoises, the colour green (lime - forest), Laneige's Sleeping mask, make-up, and eating (food is her most favourite self-care aspect). Maria is also currently writing a book on her autobiography, which has been ongoing for the last few years, she's certain she'll eventually finish if she could just get over the hump of emotions attached to exploring oneself. As you read Maria's blogs, you'll get a feel of the true individual that she is, which can sometimes be a fine line of crazy and sweet, but not too sweet. Maria hopes you'll enjoy her blog as she does talking in her head to herself as her fingers skim through the letters on her keyboard. A message from Maria; I do not intend to use my writing to impose or tell you how motherhood should be done. I am no pro at this, and find as I share my wisdom from my experiences, that it shall uncover parts of your heart that find it relatable. My posts aren't always consistent in writing, but it is meant for you to to take in as it is. Find it humurous, sad, lonely, or helpful. Whatever it is you take from it, it only means one thing.. that I have found a place in your mind for those few minutes you dedicated to reading my crap. Thank you for being here, for giving me the chance to share my thoughts. Please return, and remember all written materials and photos on this site, is not to be taken without permission. xo, MM

    1. Thank you for following! The walks is definitely a good routine to get into. It helps with releasing some of that stuff cooped up in your head. It helps you stay active, it helps with calming yourself and just going for a walk to reboot. Thanks for stopping by, I hope to see you again. 🙂

  1. These are such great goals and something that every mom should strive for. But I’m so sorry to hear that you’re going through such a hard time.

  2. It sounds like you have a lot on your plate, mama! Good for you though. It’s great that you’re writing down your goals. At least for myself, when I have them in front of me, I feel a lot more accountable for what I need to do. You’re awesome! Keep being your motivated self ❤️

  3. This is great, it’s definitely easy to lose motivation when you are at home all day – the time flies by so quickly and then the day is over and it feels like nothing has been accomplished! My goal is always just to do at least one activity outside the house with my son each day. Getting outside always does wonders for my mental health and sanity!!

  4. The older I get, I tend to pick the top 3 goals that are super important to and or for me to accomplish and go from there. I used to be able to multi-task like a pro, but now I prefer to focus on those really self-defined important goals rather than create a list that I’m unlikely to finish. That said, if you have the energy to power through them and you enjoy them (key!), go for it! 🙂 🙂

  5. Keep going girl! I’ve been severely “failing” in regards to my new years resolutions, but it’s a JOURNEY – not a destination! I’ve also found that I really need to limit myself to one or two goals at a time. When you give yourself too many, you’ll feel overwhelmed and/or just plain forget about them. ❤
