My 3 min saver

It has been an insane last couple of weeks with stomach flu, questions on my motherhood techniques and down days..but today, today im feeling upbeat.

As a mom of three, you barely get a second to yourself. If your hair is a mess, your clothes have some unknown stain, uncertain if you’ve brushed your teeth and even sometimes not sure if you’ve finished peeing before running to one of the kids calling out to you. It takes a worried mom literally 2 seconds to run from her bathroom to the living room struggling to pull her underpants back up. In many situations, i get to that child and its a cryz-out for “a snack”.

With that said, after moving from Toronto, I’ve had zero life. I mean what has changed really? I didn’t have much even when we were still in Toronto, with three kids. But at least i had friends. Well, my only friends are really my baristas at my local starbucks. Most of the time, they’re the only ‘adults’ i see all day and have the opportunity to hear me speak, not scream, not whisper..speak!

They inspire me, and what they don’t know is, they are the 3-minutes that saves me in moments when im falling apart. Moments when i cannot mom any longer, moments when i just need another adult to speak and remind me im still alive.

So for those of you moms who have 3-minute savers, take it, keep it, and cherish it. Who knows, maybe a minute more after, you’re due for the next challenge of motherhood again.

Have a blessed weekend, ya’ll!

P.s. Happy 1ST Birthday to my sweet baby, Cassiopeia! ❤

Maria used to be a Registered Early Childhood Educator, before having her second child. She is now a SAHM, that is not paid for wearing many other professional hats. She is, and not limited to some of these professional positions: Doctor, Nurse, Nanny, Chef, Maid, Uber Driver, and so on.. When she isn't mothering or tending to all her other unlicensed professional positions, she loves writing and dancing. She is a previous ballroom and latin competitor. Some of her favourite "stuff" are, turtles/turtoises, the colour green (lime - forest), Laneige's Sleeping mask, make-up, and eating (food is her most favourite self-care aspect). Maria is also currently writing a book on her autobiography, which has been ongoing for the last few years, she's certain she'll eventually finish if she could just get over the hump of emotions attached to exploring oneself. As you read Maria's blogs, you'll get a feel of the true individual that she is, which can sometimes be a fine line of crazy and sweet, but not too sweet. Maria hopes you'll enjoy her blog as she does talking in her head to herself as her fingers skim through the letters on her keyboard. A message from Maria; I do not intend to use my writing to impose or tell you how motherhood should be done. I am no pro at this, and find as I share my wisdom from my experiences, that it shall uncover parts of your heart that find it relatable. My posts aren't always consistent in writing, but it is meant for you to to take in as it is. Find it humurous, sad, lonely, or helpful. Whatever it is you take from it, it only means one thing.. that I have found a place in your mind for those few minutes you dedicated to reading my crap. Thank you for being here, for giving me the chance to share my thoughts. Please return, and remember all written materials and photos on this site, is not to be taken without permission. xo, MM

  1. I’m just about to have my second child so I’m not quite at your level of motherhood expertise but I do think I want more kids (I say that now, but ask me in two weeks after the delivery! Or in another year even!) so I will have to remember your trick to happiness/sanity.

    1. Dont let this scare you ! Any amount of children is hard. Thats just how it is when having children. Having to be responsible for someone else with your own life, each and everyday..it makes you crazy! But you get through it! you keep fighting, you keep truckin’.. good luck! And congratulations on more blessings!

  2. Thank you for keeping it real!! Being a mom can be so isolating and draining. There’s a coffee shop here I that I frequent and sometimes seeing their smiling faces really is the highlight of my day. Being a mama is rough. Hang in there!! I hope things calm down and you get an opportunity to meet a mama or two.

    1. Thanks! Honestly the smallest adult interaction can boost my week. Lol
Its tough to make mommy friends where i live..because most parents have a nanny or their kids take the bus. My sons class literally at the end of the day, comes out with just three other classmates. My hubby is gone for at least 15 hrs a day.. so those college kids at Starbucks gives me life at times. Haha

  3. Before becoming a Mom I was actually a Barista at a Starbucks. We would see so many different people each and every day, all with a different story. I loved getting to know my customers and their stories. Now that I am a mom, I have a very different appreciation for that job. Mostly because I too take advantage of that 3 minute saver whenever I am craving adult company – if only for a few moments! Loved this!

    1. Thank you for sharing that! While my baristas are college students..they are kind, good listener, thoughtful..and there are days when i cant even utter my orders right..but they get me..they even give me uplifting messages on my ice coffee cup at times. I love it!

  4. It’s funny how those little moments that meant so little before kids mean so much when you have them! Three minutes can really do a lot!

  5. I always walked the kids to school so I could have some adult interaction. I haven’t been able to lately and find I’m talking to myself A LOT more than usual!

  6. I remember those days. I used to have a lady that I would run into in the grocery store every week, we were on the same schedule. She was my adult interaction for the day!

  7. Ahh yes…I don’t get out of the house much and no place that I really frequent. But in the extremely off chance that I wake up before the kids in the morning…it is wonderful =) I get a chance to breath and actually mentally prepare for the day instead of hitting the floor at 80mph!

  8. I totally agree with this. We have physical therapy for our twins twice a month, and it’s wonderful! They basically come to our house and play with the babies while I sit on the couch with a cup of coffee and talk to them about anything and everything under the sun! Thanks for this post 🙂
